About OrFIRST

Our Vision
We are a nonprofit Community Parent Resource Center committed to creating communities where parents, caregivers and school professionals work collaboratively to ensure the best educational
opportunities for children experiencing a disability birth to age 26.
OrFIRST is here to assist families and professionals in gaining knowledge on IDEA 2004 and how to support and advocate for children birth to age 26 experiencing a disability, with IEPs IFSPs and or
504 plans. It is our hope that an increased understanding and empowerment will lead to more personal involvement and more cultural, educational and social activities for children experiencing a
disability, which will create a better community and a better place for us to live.
We are inspired to
assist families in gaining knowledge and understanding of IDEA 2004 federal law
expand and develop culturally competent programs and services
increase awareness of special education services and programs in our community
reduce dispraportionality through a better understanding of the positive supports in education that support our students learning and progress forward
